Day 4
Right, busy day today... long day at work so not much time to spare. All these were written during my break/after work vs my usual WIP style.
First meal: Jazzed up SPie
A couple of cloves of garlic and one button mushroom, pepper and tabasco sauce go into making SPie more edible. Still slightly a chore to eat, but at least it's tolerable.
Drink: Sencha green tea (Future ref: green tea)
Drink: Dilmah's mint tea (Future ref: mint tea)
Decided to drink some tea today, so while working, I worked my way through a few mugs of green tea and mint tea, one teabag each, reused at least twice.
Second meal: SSPSoup
Busy shift, tummy was growling for almost an hour before I had the chance to boil some water and make myself some soup to tide me over till later.
Snack: 3 cherry tomatoes
I wanted something fresh because I've been eating all these meal replacements, so I grabbed some of these and they are delightful! I must be missing my veggies. 1/2 cup of cherry tomatoes only have about 3g of carbs, so I don't think three is gonna throw me over the carb threshold... one would hope.
Third meal: Jazzed up TDins
Two cloves garlic and a button mushroom, pepper, with an additional tsp of Marmite goes into TDins. Note to self: Less Marmite, 1/2 tsp should be enough? it was a wee bit on the salty side and I don't add salt while cooking.
Thoughts:
I don't believe I'm in ketosis yet, although it should hit tomorrow? I guess we'll see. So far, doing okay, but during a busy shift, it's a little harder to cook on the stove, so have ordered a microwave, which will definitely help. It's a bit of a hit on my already strained finances, but the time saved labouring over the stupid stove is over once it gets here, at least. Now, this is my 2nd actual day on the 3 meal replacements a day because if you read Day 2 and 3, you'll discover that I had 3 1/2 meals on those days instead when I split the DChocB, so I kinda fell off the wagon somewhat, even if the bar was still an Exante product and thus, only about 100-ish calories extra. On the other hand, I am adding at least 4 cloves of garlic and 2-3 button mushrooms a day to my meals, along with some cherry tomatoes, which isn't strictly allowed (the garlic is, the rest I don't think so), per se, but needs must (one must be able to swallow the meals, you see).
I'm not even doing that much to jazz up the meals other than the garlic (for some added flavour) and the button mushrooms (for texture), pepper, tabasco sauce and the odd tsp of soy sauce, fish sauce, Marmite or Bovril. It makes for a boring flavour profile to my meals, but so far, I can still take them. I can't say I ENJOY them, but they are edible. However, I'm severely regretting my impulsiveness in buying 50 x TDins and SPies coz man, those meals will take some slogging over to finish. I took a look at the website and saw some more appealing meals: the Spaghetti Bolognese and Carbonara sounded decent, I mean, at least it can't be as bad as SPies, which is the pits. I wish I can return the rest of the SPies since they also always seem to give me indigestion of some sort, but apparently if I buy it in a pack of 50, I can't return them once I've opened a couple of the packs. Boooo...
Lesson learned: In future, buy maximum 7 packs of any new meals that I haven't tried just in case I hate them.
