Day 2

Welp, day 2, here we go...

First meal: Exante's Turkey Dinner (Future ref: TDins)

I may have undercooked the SPie and thus the indigestion, so I decided to leave the TDins a bit longer on the hob, in a bowl set in a saucepan of boiling water. An initial taste test while stirring had me balking at the aftertaste, which reminds me of the SPie, so I decided to drop in 1/2 tsp of my daily allocation of Marmite and a generous dose of black pepper. I also pondered adding fish sauce (unlimited amounts allowed by Exante), but I felt that it may clash with the Marmite? Well, in any case, fish sauce another time.

It's edible, and a step up from SPie with the modifications and I didn't have to force myself quite so hard to finish it the way I did with the SPie, so that's good. Hopefully this won't give me indigestion today coz yesterday was the pits. I had to take a late dose of tummy meds coz it was so bad.

I feel like a nap right now, but after said nap, I'll probably make a trip to the supermarket to buy a few essentials, like garlic (allowed), tabasco sauce (allowed), Bovril (for a change from the Marmite) as well as mint and green tea. Oh, and extra black pepper. May also throw in some cherry tomatoes, lettuce and mushrooms. I know I'm not really supposed to add anything into the three meals I take a day, but really, I have 49 packets of SPie and TDins EACH to finish... that's 98 packets = 98 meals. I ain't gonna suffer through 98 meals without a BIT of jazzing up. I do want to keep to this for the next 12 weeks, and right now, the SPie and TDins by themselves are not helping. There's just this rather odd aftertaste that I really dislike from those two meals which isn't present in the RBChilli (or rather, the taste of RBChilli is strong enough to camouflage said aftertaste?)

Hrm, anyway, am pondering if I should have another SPie after supermarket trip, but jazzed up, to compare it with yesterday's sorry meal. Also wondering if I should break out the pizza kit since it's my off day and I have time to tinker in the kitchen. Probably both?

Napped longer than I expected, so 2nd meal/snack will be split into two as I need to run to the supermarket before it closes.

Snack: Half of Exante's Double Chocolate Bar (Future ref: DChocB)

First impression, wow, it's sweet! I've taken to cutting about half the sugar or more out of my drinks for the past few years so am not used to eating something quite so sweet, but the DChocB is fudgy and chocolatey, which is great for times when I have a craving for something sweet. However, I can only eat half of it right now because it's so darn rich. Will keep the other half for a snack later, so will probably cook a proper Exante meal after shopping. Now I better get going before it gets too late.

Second meal: Jazzed up SPie

Right, shopping done, time to cook. Hot water into SPie mixture, then a pan on the stove with 3 cloves of garlic, one brown button mushroom and one white button mushroom + 3 cherry tomatoes with a few squirts of Frylight. I tossed in some fresh thyme but I think I didn't put enough, will have to be more generous with it next time. After stir-frying a bit, I added the sludgy brown SPie mixture to the pan. A generous dose of fish sauce, tabasco sauce and 1/2 tsp of Bovril and black pepper later, SPie is much more edible. Note to self: Lighter hand on the fish sauce.

The button mushrooms add great texture to the brown mess and with the seasoning, the aftertaste is less obvious. I may throw in some extra peas in the future, but I think since I'm only eating about 600-ish calories a day, three cherry tomatoes, three cloves of garlic and a couple of button mushrooms won't really add much to the total count and I mean, with 48 SPie packs to go means I do have to find ways to make it easier to swallow. One thing's for sure, if I order from Exante again, SPie and TDins won't be part of the order.

Third meal: Exante's Chicken and Leek Soup (Future ref: CnLSoup)

I meant to finish the DChocB tonight but I find that I just can't make myself eat something so sweet right now, so I decided to pop the rest of the bar in the fridge for another day and made the CnLSoup instead. Kinda bland-ish, can't really taste the chicken or leek ok, it is kinda chicken-y and there are tiny floaty bits that are definitely leek, definitely a step up from the SSPSoup, especially after a healthy dose of black pepper and tabasco sauce.

Thoughts:
I'm half a meal over the usual three meals due to the half a bar of DChocB I ate, but honestly I just couldn't stomach the thought of finishing something so sweet today so meh. I'll probably bring it along when I go out tomorrow as a snack on the move? Hrm. Anyway, tomorrow will be eggs and pizza day, I think. I'm keeping the dahl pot for a working day, because it doesn't require cooking compared to the rest of the meals (other than the soups).
